Abstract

Vasoactive agents are the drugs required in shock or hypertensive crisis which are frequently used in the intensive care unit (ICU). These drugs need to be prepared urgently in the perioperative areas too. These drugs can lead to major adverse effects if not prepared properly and timely. Their preparation and administration as an infusion poses a tough challenge and confusion to intensive care staff, especially when the staff is new. In this letter, we want to mention an easy way of preparation of such infusions especially for the commonly used vasoactive medications. By far to our knowledge, there exists no such article explaining the preparation of vasoactive medications. This can help calculate the dose, thereby monitoring for various adverse effects of vasoactive medications.
