Abstract

In this editorial, guest editor Michael A. Tijerina, MSN, RN-BC, NPD-BC, shares a personal story highlighting sepsis awareness and the trajectory of the disease.  He also calls for healthcare practitioners never to forget and never stop fighting the war on sepsis.   This includes the importance of prevention, early recognition, and treatment.

Michael A Tijerina, MSN, RN-BC, NPD-BC is the Regional Sepsis Program Manager/Clinical Quality Consultant for Kaiser Permanente, Northern California.  Under his leadership, the Sepsis program has received several national and local awards for their work in early recognition and treatment.
